Superhero Costumes at the Corporate Kids Events kids camp in Grand Rapids last summer

Corporate Kids Events hosted 24 children for this 6 day conference childcare program over 2 weeks, managed by our own Shayne McNichols. “I encouraged the kids to be their most creative self in their superhero costume creation. Some had animals or superhero strength and I enjoyed watching them run around with their capes flying behind them as the joined forces to take over the world!” reported Shayne.

The superhero costume design was a hit and they put a cinema spin on it to display what the kids had created. This activity helped the kids explore their creativity in costume making and using their imaginations.

The beach day was also a hit. The kids created the perfect beach day crafts and engaging in fun in the sun activities. They created beach items by decorating  beach hats and making signs.

There was also a uno championship and, “I was impressed by good sports the kids were and how they encouraged each other, I also loved watching their victory dances, “ says Shayne.

FIRST Kids Camp in Nashville Summer 2018

March 28, 2019 By Nicole Weaver

Corporate Kids Events, a company that specializes in conference childcare, partnered with FIRST Foundation, a nonprofit organization, in July of 2018 for FIRST’s Biennial National Conference. Corporate Kids Events has done several events for FIRST over the years. We especially love helping special needs children. It brings us such joy to see them having so much fun with each other and with all the organized activities.

FIRST is a foundation for Ichthyosis with the goal of improving the lives and seeking cures for those affected by ichthyosis and related skin types. FIRST was holding their 20th Biennial National Conference during which the families of affected children joined together in Nashville, Tennessee, to receive education and support and to learn about new innovation and technology in the field.

Corporate Kids Events allowed families to bring their children with them to this 2-day conference and enjoy their own side event with the theme of Arts and Crafts Extravaganzza while the parents learned more about their children’s skin disorders. We organized many activities for the children including a Talent Show and a Mickey and Minnie Surprise Visit which the kids always adore.

Corporate Kids Events hosted 83 children for this 2-day conference childcare extravaganza, managed by our own Miss Lucy and Belen. “Kids can be themselves and have fun without judgment”, reports Miss Lucy.

The Talent Show allows kids to be creative, express themselves, and experience getting up in front of other kids – complete strangers which helped to build their self confidence. You can be sure they were not strangers by the end of the event. These kids meet new friends and bond with each other through the slew of organized activity. The Talent Show also helps to build their self esteem as their peers cheered them on.

The surprise Mickey and Minnie Visit is always a hit. Dressed in full-body outfits, Mickey and Minnie appeared after a mid-morning snack during some downtime when they least expected. With snacks in their bellies to hold them off before lunch, the kids were feeling great and joined Mickey and Minnie in a dance party!

One child wrote a letter to Miss Lucy which reads,

“My favorite this about camp was playing all the games and playing with friends. I think it is nice for them to see that they aren’t the only ones like them and there are others in the world that look the same.”

This FIRST event in Nashville was located at the Nashville Airport Marriott with 471 attendees. You can learn more about FIRST by visiting their website, www.FirstKinFoundation.org.

We look forward to hosting many more conference childcare events with the FIRST Foundation in the future! Thank you for your trust in Corporate Kids Events!

Arthritis Foundation: Annual Juvenile Arthritis Advocacy Summit Kids Camp – March 11, 2019

March 20, 2019 By Nicole Weaver

Corporate Kids Events partnered with the Arthritis Foundation, a nonprofit organization, on March 11, 2019 for their annual Juvenile Arthritis Advocacy Summit.  Corporate Kids Events has done several events for The Arthritis Foundation over the years and have more scheduled later this year. It brings us so much joy to see these kids having fun with each other and participating in all the organized activities.

The Arthritis Foundation is a nonprofit organization that leads the way in providing support to children with juvenile arthritis. The Foundation was holding their annual Advocacy Summit in Arlington, VA, with the mission to to influence Congress and raise awareness of the impact of arthritis.

Kids and teens were welcome, too! Corporate Kids Events allowed families to bring their children with them to this 1 day conference and enjoy their own side event with the theme of Arts Extravaganzza and Self Advocacy while the parents also learned about juvenile arthritis advocacy. The kids got to listen to several guest speakers and learn more about JA.  We organized many age appropriate activities for the children including Team Building activities and activities to help prepare the children for speaking at Capitol Hill.

Conference Childcare by Corporate Kids Events

Corporate Kids Events hosted 55 children for this 1 day conference childcare extravaganza, managed by our own Stacey Woodzell, Jeremy Myers and Amanda McCormick, “My favorite part of this event was watching the children meet new, first-time friends they can relate to,”reports Stacey.

One of our veteran childcare staff, Christopher W. said, “I had so much fun with the kids and the scavenger hunt. We split up into teams and had to look for items all over the hotel. My team also got all the bonus questions correct and we won. It was fun to help them with the hunt and see them having such a great time!”

The Team Building activities and hearing guest speakers from the Arthritis Foundation JA Staff, allowed kids from pre-K through 12th grade to connect with each other, while learning how to advocate for themselves and take action. Activities include playing games, creating materials to present to congressional offices, talking with health care experts and learning how to speak to politicians.

Above all, kids and teens get to meet with state and federal lawmakers to talk about the devastating effects of arthritis and the issues most important to them; such as, lack of funding for arthritis research, the shortage of pediatric rheumatologists and the burden of costly medications. Children in pre-K to eighth grade join their parents for visits to Capitol Hill, while teens ninth grade and up form their own advocacy groups to voice their concerns.

This JA Advocacy Summit was located at the Renaissance Capital View in Arlington, VA. You can learn more about The Arthritis Foundation by visiting their website, www.kidsgetarthritistoo.org

We look forward to hosting many more conference childcare events with Arthritis Foundation in the future! Thank you for your trust in Corporate Kids Events!

Summer Memories: 2014 WORLD TSC CONFERENCE

December 18, 2014 By Admin

Second in our summer -recap series is another memorable special needs child care program, the 2014 World Conference of the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance. The TS Alliance is another valued long-time client; and an organization we are proud to work with.dscn0606-300x225

Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is a genetic disorder that causes non-malignant tumors to form in many different organs, primarily in the brain, eyes, heart, kidney, skin and lungs. The TS Alliance is the world’s leading resource for individuals and families dealing with TS.

This year’s program was held in Washington DC. July 3rd through 6th (yes, another big one over the 4th of July weekend!). It was an extra-special occasion because this year marked the first official World TS Conference – earlier programs had been referred to as National Conferences. This expansion reflects the both the vast expansion of information-sharing worldwide over the past few years, as well as dramatic improvements in clinical care and approved treatments for TS.  The TS Alliance is to be commended for it’s continuing and ever-expanding outreach, education, and support.

dscn0131-300x225-1The conference, held at the beautiful Omni Shoreham attracted more than 1,100 attendees from across the globe, including families and individuals with TSC; caregivers; healthcare professionals; researchers; a wide array of exhibitors; and others interested in TSC. CKE had the privilege of caring for 80 children at this program, many of whom are affected by TS, and others who joined as siblings. The childcare program was organized into two camps, each featuring staff and activities appropriate to the individual attendees. This type of programming ensures every child enjoys a memorable and rewarding camp experience.

If your life has been affected in any way by Tuberous Sclerosis, we encourage you to vist the TS Alliance site to learn more.
