Strong Bonds Kids Camp in Vail, Colorado- February 2021

February 28, 2021 By Nicole Weaver

Corporate Kids Events, a nationwide conference childcare company based out of California, teamed up with Strong Bonds to hold a shell event for the organization that aims to foster relationships within the military family. This event took place in the wintery Vail, Colorado for  February 18th-20th. This is one of several events Strong Bonds will be holding this year and Corporate Kids Events is looking forward to be working with them throughout 2021.

Strong Bonds is a unit-based, chaplain-led program that assists commanders in building individual resiliency by strengthening the Army Family. The core mission of the Strong Bonds program is to increase individual Soldier and Family member readiness through relationship education and skills training. Strong Bonds is conducted in an offsite retreat format in order to maximize the training effect. The retreat or “get away” provides a fun, safe, and secure environment in which to address the impact of relocations, deployments, and military lifestyle stressors (Strong Bonds.org, 2021).

Corporate Kids Events gave Strong Bonds the opportunity for families to bring their children to the 3-day conference. While the parents participated in the adult training, Corporate Kids Events whisked the kids off to another room to have their own fun conference childcare program focused on fun! With concerns of COVID-19 Strong Bonds and Corporate Kids Events took special care to ensure everyone’s safety including mandatory temperature checks daily upon entry, mandatory mask wearing and social distancing when possible. Corporate Kids Events also provided gloves, hand sanitizer and cleaning products to keep toys, games and surfaces disinfected and safe for everyone to use.

Corporate Kids Events hosted 14 children in the infant to school age groups managed by Debbie Purcell, one of our National Program Managers. Debbie was accompanied by 5 local staff all of whom very much enjoyed working and interacting with the kids. Debbie reported her favorite part of the kids camp was, “that she loved holding the baby twins.” One of the local staff members, Ana, also, “ loved playing with the babies.” For this camp, around 1/3 of the attendees were babies.

Each of the days had a different theme to keep things exciting for the kids including, Beach Day, Pirates and Wild Wild West. For each theme Debbie and the staff introduced games, crafts and activities specific to the particular theme. The most favourite activities were decorating the craft take home bags with beads and sequins and also when one of the staff members played music for the kids for games like duck-duck-goose and musical chairs. The kids had the unique opportunity to in that a staff member brought an instrument to play! Music ignites all areas of child development and skills for school readiness, including intellectual, social-emotional, motor, language, and overall literacy. It also helps the body and mind work together and was just an overall fun extra the kids got to enjoy in Vail. The mother of the twins previously mentioned, Julia, reported, “Debbie and her team were absolutely wonderful! I have twin daughters who are 6 months old and up until last weekend at the Strong Bonds Marriage Retreat in Vail, Colorado, I had never had anyone watch them, except for my husband. Debbie made me feel so much better and allowed me to ask any questions I’d like about the care my daughters would be receiving. I felt totally at peace leaving them with her and her team during the retreat.”

Well, there you have it, another successful and fun conference childcare event complete!

The Strong Bonds event was held at the Grand Hyatt in Vail, Colorado, February 18th-20th with 14 child campers. You can find out more about Strong Bonds by visiting their website (www.strongbonds.org).

February 11, 2021 By Nicole Weaver

Corporate Kids Events, a Nationwide and International event childcare company, collaborated with Nebraska Farm Bureau to hold the Young Farmers and Ranchers 2021 Conference in Kearney. This is one of several conferences Corporate Kids Events has held for the organization over the years.

The Nebraska Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Conference aims to equip farmers, ranchers and agribusiness professionals aged 18-35 develop leadership and networking skills, as well as coming together as a whole to share information and experiences. Each conference features innovative tours, dynamic speakers, and several breakout sessions. The NFB has been conducting these meetings for over 50 years! It’s a great opportunity to for the younger generation of farmers to learn and grow their businesses.

Corporate Kids Events gave NFB the opportunity for families to bring their children to the 2 –day Conference. The kids were taken to another part of the building to have their own fun kids event childcare while the parents participated in the Young Farmers and Ranchers Conference. With concerns of COVID-19 Corporate Kids and the NFB took special care ensure everyone’s safety including, mandatory temperature checks upon entry, mandatory mask wearing, social distancing as well, Corporate Kids Events provided hand sanitizer, cleaning products and gloves to keep surfaces, toys and supplies disinfected for the use of kids and staff.

Corporate Kids hosted 10 children for the kids camp with ages from infant to school age managed by Stacey Woodzell, one of our long time National Program Managers. She was accompanied by 4 local Kearney staff, all who fully enjoyed the experience of working with the kids. Stacey reported her favorite part of the kids camp was, “seeing the children happy to be playing and interacting with the other children.”

The theme of the event was Beach and Pirates. This centered on activities and craft projects that surrounded a day at sea such as mask making with real “jewels” as well a scavenger hunt and a beach balloon game.

The scavenger hunt, always a kid favorite focuses on team building, socialization as well as builds communication skills. They are required to search for items in the space and check them off a list. A very pirate-y activity indeed resembling treasure hunting! The beach balloon toss was another fun game and allowed the kids to use some energy while playing with balloons in an open room.

One of the staff mentioned something funny to Stacey, “ Watching the two babies play and communicate was very funny and cute. Neither talked but understood what each other wanted by making noises.” And there you have it, another exciting kids camp complete!

Corporate Kids Events, a Nationwide and International company that does conference childcare, teamed up with Kiewit, one of the largest engineering and construction organizations in North America in December in Ranchos Palos Verdes, California for their Public Works Conferences for employees.  Corporate Kids Events has done numerous events for Kiewit over the years. This past year we are hosted Kiewit events in Fort Worth, Denver, Aurora, Irving, Dallas and more.

Kiewit is a 130-year old company originally started by 2 brothers. Kiewit’s work includes, ‘building roads that connect the world, digging canals to thirsty lands, and bored tunnels through mountains (Kiewit.org, 2019). The Public Works Conferences included several events in the month of December in various cities in North America. Some of these conferences were multiple days, such as in Ranchos Palos Verdes.

Corporate Kids Events gave the opportunity for families to bring their children with them to this 2-day conference childcare event and enjoy their own side special kids camp with the a Holiday theme while the parents learned more about Kiewit programs and processes. The kids also had a special visit from a wildlife rescue organization, which they really loved. Several activities were also prepared including karoke, holiday crafts and cookie decorating and a scavenger hunt.

Corporate Kids hosted 21 children for this 2-day kids camp, managed by our own Lucy Leon, one of our Senior Program Managers. “My favorite part of the event was watching the karoke, one of the kids did a full on song and dance production- and we were all very impressed with how they really got into the activity,” reports Lucy.

The surprise visit from a local Wildlife Rescue Organization brought 2 birds of prey for the children to see up close, learn about and event touch! “The bird show was awesome!” said Lucy. The kids and staff were able to touch an owl and a hawk that had been injured and rehabilitated at the center. The birds could not be released back into the wild due to their injuries, so they now accompany the organization on educational outings and outreach. It was a great opportunity for these kids to learn about these animals up close and personal to build respect for animals and for the habitat in which they live.

The Scavenger hunt, always a favorite, focused on team building and teaches the kids about socialization and communication skills. They are required to find items around the hotel on the list as a team and

Another activity was teaching the kids how to deal with Bullies. The focus was on overcoming meanness with kindness as well as helping them be aware of their words and how it can make others feel. This activity included role-playing and demonstrations by our staff. It was informative and fun!

Scout, one of the campers mentioned “My favorite part of the conference was that I got to hang out with my friends while learning at the same time, so it made it like a fun learning environment.”

Juvenile Arthritis Kids Camp in Minneapolis with Corporate Kids Events

November 5, 2019 By Nicole Weaver

Corporate Kids Events, a Nationwide and International company that does conference childcare, teamed up with the Juvenile Arthritis Foundation an organization, in Minneapolis, Minnesota on August 1st-4th 2019, for their popular JA Summer Conference.  Corporate Kids Events hosts events for the JA Foundation every year for several years now. This year we hosted JA Programs in Minneapolis, Anaheim, Boston, Indianapolis and Houston.

The Juvenile Arthritis Foundation (JA), “leads the way in providing support to children with juvenile arthritis and their families through funding research, advocating for kids, creating awareness, providing education and hosting events.” The JA Summer Conference in Minneapolis was three full days of educational sessions led by experts in the rheumatology, healthcare and other related fields. These meetings present a unique opportunity for learning, sharing and networking and are helpful to those with juvenile arthritis and their families.

Superhero Presentation

Corporate Kids Events gave the opportunity for families to bring their children with them to this 3-day conference childcare event and enjoy their own side special kids camp with the theme of Superheros™ while the parents learned more about juvenile arthritis. The kids also had several educational sessions from the JA Foundation staff about living with arthritis and understanding what it means to have arthritis.

We prepared several activities for the kids including a Teen Scavenger Hunt, Taking your Panda Bear to it’s appointment to reduce their own fear of Doctors and several arts and craft projects, which the kids always really enjoy!

Corporate Kids hosted 313 children for this 3-day kids camp, managed by our team of 8 Program Managers and lead by our own Stacey Woodzel, “My favorite part of the event was watching the first time families and children meet new friends they can relate to,” reports Stacey.

Having a chronic illness and going to the Doctors can be scary, so JA had an activity to take your Panda to the Doctor. This was a way for kids to have less fear of the medical system and be there to listen to what the “Doctor” was telling their Panda. This helped with their learning and understanding of JA, as well as knowing Doctors are there to help them.

Taking Panda to the Doctor

Another activity favorite was the teen scavenger hunt. The teens had a blast exploring the hotel to check of the items on their lists. Scavenger hunts allow kids to practice problem solving in a tangible way. In addition, the teens got some exercise because they incorporated clues to get them moving. Having the teens in small groups also helps build teamwork, they have to work together to solve clues and arrive at the final destination.

Hayden’s Mom, Hayden was one of the younger campers, mentioned, “This has been his favorite camp so far and he has attended 4 of them. He really connected with the staff.”
